The Tannery Marketplace property is situated in the Littleton River District which has a consistent history of entrepreneurship. Littleton is a popular White Mountains tourist destination and its River District includes restaurants, shops, two walking bridges, a covered bridge, scenic river vistas, and a musical pocket park. The River District neighborhood is a current focus of redevelopment with $2.5 million invested today and another 1.5 million committed for new water and sewer infrastructures, roadway improvements, and parking realignment planned within the next 18 months.

In 2012, the Tannery Marketplace hosted a Plan NH Design Charette creating a mission to recreate the riverside area into a destination and enhance the “historic Littleton” brand while becoming a vital part to the commercial and residential growth success.
The benefits of the River District Project will be increased economic activity, formation of 500 jobs, improved public safety, and enhanced tourism activity among many other things.
